Group placed last spring, the Mark and Levi Kavanagh-trained filly has been consistent over the summer and seemed to relish the heavy ground to score a head win with Craig Williams in the saddle.

“She’s done a great job. She’s always had form, good form around good horses, My Gladiola included,” said Levi Kavanagh.

“We thought she was a specialist at the Caulfield track early on, but she was running at 1200 metres and not quite getting there. Since we’ve been running her down the straight she has been exceptional.

“It was a great ride from Craig. I would have liked him to get there a little bit earlier to keep my heart a little less pounding, but she was in front where she needed to be and that was fantastic.”

Thanks Gorgeous has the overall record of three wins and five placings from 12 starts with prizemoney topping $550,000 and is likely chase further stakes success in Adelaide.

“We’ll see how she pulls up. We have looked at going to Adelaide,” Kavanagh added.

“We’ll see how she is. She’s a horse that does not like to spell down the farm. She loves being in work. She’s always happy at the stables, so we’ll see how she pulls up.”

Bred by Cityview Farm, Thanks Gorgeous is the first winner from well bred Exceed And Excel mare Localchella, a daughter of US stakes-winner Coachella Valley from an international Black Type family, which includes Zagrey, a winner of the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden, a race won a few years prior by Godolphin’s Ghaiyyath who is currently the Leading Second Season Sire in Australia.

Interestingly, Localchella’s current 2yo colt is by Ghaiyyath and although she was not served in 2023, and missed in 2024, she was covered last season by Peltzer once again, with the resultant foal a full relation to Thanks Gorgeous.

Peltzer now has two SW’s on his record!
