Prezado goes back-to-back at Flemington

Straight-track specialist Prezado (Denman) made it four wins over the Flemington 1000 metres when prevailing in a blanket finish in the Furphy Dash (1000m) yesterday.

The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained Prezado came with a flying run under Jamie Kah to defeat favourite King Of Hastings (Ilovethiscity) by a head with Milwaukee (Fastnet Rock) a further nose away in third.

“He just tucks the head down and he’s got a better finish the quicker they go up in front,” Zahra said. “I was having a look at the splits and they were breaking 11 (seconds) in the last 400 (metres) and 200 (metres). Credit to the horse, he’s really come of age and really appreciating the new style of training, out of the stable a little bit and back in.”
